On 3RD and 4th March the Consortium partners of 3D4KIDS project met in Barrow-in-Furness (UK), for the last Transnational meeting of 3D4KIDS project – “Secondary Education for and Through 3D Printing”, hosted this time by the coordinator of the project.

The Italian and Spanish partners were unable to attend the meeting because of COVID-19.
For this reason, they attended the meeting through a well and organized skype call.

The aim of the project is to promote the use of 3D printing in secondary schools. 3D4KIDS is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program, Key Action 2 (Strategic partnerships for innovation and the exchange of good practices) and the consortium of the project’s partners is composed by: Furness Academy (United Kingdom), IES José Luis Castillo-Puche (Spain), Srednja šola za oblikovanje Maribor (Slovenia), CEIPES (Italy), CETEM (Spain), STYRIAN TECHNOLOGY PARK (Slovenia) and Pristálica (Spain).

During the meeting the partners discussed about the past activities, and the ones to carry out before the end of the project (30 March 2020).

In addition, all the pilots organised in the various schools and the feedback received were shown.

This meeting was important because the results that the consortium of partners has collected over all 3 years have emerged even more.

Feedback from the Italian 3D4KIDS pilot Phase! /es/feedback-from-the-italian-3d4kids-pilot-phase/ /es/feedback-from-the-italian-3d4kids-pilot-phase/#respond Thu, 31 Oct 2019 16:16:46 +0000 /?p=13719 Leer más...]]> On the 29th October, the Italian pilot phase of the project 3D4KIDS took place in “I.C.S. Monsignor Gagliano”,  a secondary school in the province of Palermo and it involved 80 students and 8 teachers from different classes and subjects who had the opportunity to test the new tools and metodologies developed by the consortium partners, during the project.

During the pilot, CEIPES’ 3D experts explained some technical infomation about the use of 3Dprinting and the great potencial of this technology in the teaching and learning system.

In particular, the students and teachers tested the exercises developped, the methodology for pilot and also the platform where all 3D models and exercises are allocated.

They also had the opportunity to experiment in a practical way with the 3D printer, by printing a new small object.

Thanks to teachers and students feedback Ceipes’ project Manager had the confirmation that it is possible to develop new kind of lesson that involved the traditional face-to-face methods and the new didattical tools, in this way the learning activities become even more attractive. On another hand the tactical manipulation of the printed objects was very useful for children who have Specific Learning Disorders.

The students who participated in the pilot phase, were very enthusiastic about the activity carried out recognizing the potential in using this kind of technology during the lesson and they gave to Ceipes these feedback thanks to the Inital and final evaluation questionnaires they filled out.

Now, Ceipes is working on the results of this test to understand in depth the strengths and weaknesses of the project and to improve the tools created.

3D4KIDS project aims at promoting the use of 3D printers in secondary schools. It is a project funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus+ programme, Key Action 2 (Strategic Partnership for innovation and the Exchange of good practices).

The consortium partner that is carrying out the project activities is composed by: Furness Academy (United Kingdom), IES José Luis Castillo-Puche (Spain), Srednja šola za oblikovanje Maribor (Slovenia), CEIPES (Italy), CETEM (Spain), STYRIAN TECHNOLOGY PARK (Slovenia), Pristálica (Spain).

An innovative projects that will bring 3D Printing in the Schools! /es/an-innovative-projects-that-will-bring-3d-printing-in-the-schools/ /es/an-innovative-projects-that-will-bring-3d-printing-in-the-schools/#respond Fri, 20 Jul 2018 13:22:07 +0000 /?p=54 Leer más...]]> On 1st October 2017 the project  “Secondary Education for and through the 3D Printing” (or simply 3D4KIDS) was launched. Its objectives are concentrated on the promotion using 3D printers in secondary schools. The project is financed by European Commission within Erasmus+ program, Key Action 2 (Strategic Partnership for innovation and the Exchange of good practices).

The main objectives of the project are:

– to feed an industry that is in high growth as is the 3DP of their “target groups”: students

– to improve educational transversal skills of the students through the use of 3DP

– to heightened concentration of pupils with Attention Deficit Disorder

– to improve 3DP skills of secondary schools teachers without technologic background as the best way to transfer this innovative knowledge to 21st century students

– to work in a cross curricular way among Departments in schools so that this technology is not confined to a single subject area

– to use ICT and 3DP to develop innovative teaching and learning practices

– to know first-hand the educational systems in every country participating in the project

The project will be promoted by organization coming from 4 different European countries. The consortium is indeed composed by schools, small and medium enterprises, association and research centers coming from Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and Slovenia.

To achieve these goals, the consortium has defined the following intellectual outputs:

-Guide for teachers about how to develop designs of didactic exercises suitable to be 3D printed published under the open Creative Commons Licence.

– Open Catalogue of 3DP format exercises for improving skills of students on the different subjects of schools

– Innovative and intuitive software tool to contain the 3DP kits of exercises including a guide for 3DP focused on school education

– Networking software tool for connecting schools and 3D printing industry service providers that will make the school don’t depend on own 3D printers.

Milestone 3: Platforms and materials tested and validated through the pilot. /es/milestone-3/ /es/milestone-3/#respond Wed, 02 May 2018 16:12:35 +0000 /?p=27 Leer más...]]> 31/03/2020

The networking software for connecting schools and the industry is a very collaborative output. The first year of the project will be dedicated to carefully define its specifications and the rest of the project will be dedicated to be developed and fed and tested by the partnership.

Report of use of 3D printing in EU schools is the application and test of the previous results.  It will encompass not only the execution of the pilot test, but also the planning and feedback. For that Intellectual Output CEIPES will involve the associated secondary schools from Sicily that will participate in the pilot execution for free. The associated ship building company BAES will assist FURNESS during its execution.
